Jane Austen, 235 Years

"The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid."
— Jane Austen (Northanger Abbey)

Oh my, I HAD to make a quick post about it. Today it's the 235th Birthday of the amazing JANE AUSTEN. I'm quite obsessed with her, not only because I find her books entertaining, but because they talk about us women and about our inner strenght. I'd say my favourite books by her are Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice, but I haven't read Emma yet! :) I do also love the BBC adaptations of her books :) What about you? Do you like Jane? Favourite books? Have a charming weekend ladies!

OMG Rupert Penry-Jones as Captain Wentworth. I DIE. Probably only topped by Colin Firth as Darcy and Richard Armitage as John Thornton (all right, that's Gaskell).

I'm glad you put this up. I've loved Austen since I picked up a battered dollar-copy of Penguin Classic's Pride & Prejudice. Loved every single one except Sense & Sensibility. Yes, even Fanny in Mansfield and Emma. Her characters are so alive!

My sister's thinking of having the ball dress Keira Knightley (YUCK) wore to the assembly as her prom dress. She and I are almost the same size so BWAHAHAHA.

I love Jane Austen!! My favourite books have got to be Pride and Prejudice (of course!) and Emma, you should definitely read it!! I love watching the TV adaptions too, at my school some of my best friends loved them too and we used to spend hours watching them together (it was a boarding school)!

¡Me encanta Jane Austen!
¡Felicidades, srta Austen!

Happy Birthday Jane!

It's so hard for me to choose a favorite! Most often I bestow the honor upon Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility, but I love them all :)

My parents are both OBSESSED with her, which, honestly, kind of turned me off! Hah :P But I've been meaning to read her work for ages now, I've only ever heard good things.

I love that you can always go to her for a happy ending, and the stories are so full of witty dialogue!
